Recap of the 2025 holiday season.
This was our second year with the workshop. We held four weekend sessions from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and were nearly booked every day. In addition we made the trek down to California for the Luther Burbank Home and Gardens Open House. We decided midway through the season to start tracking the number of people (and animals) that we see. We had a rough estimate of the 2024 season and a pretty good estimate of the California trip for this year. This year we saw approximately 319 people and animals. this was based on who was listed in the appointments and an estimate for the California trip (approximately 125 people). We capped off the season with an event at Enumclaw High School where students got to take selfies with Kris Kringle during their lunch times. We purchased a counting device so that we would have more accurate numbers to report in the 2026 season. This counter, The Kringle Kounter, worked wonderfully during the high school event.
This year we added two new elements to the workshop, the Nutcracker, and the snow. Both seemed to be a big hit with families. The nutcracker was a collaboration between the Kringle's, who build him, and the Enumclaw Engineering Club who made him come to life. The snow was a gift from our southern relations and arrived between the first and second weekend of the workshop.
Plans for 2026
We are excited to share that we are actively working on expanding the workshop to create more room and add some attractions. First off, we will be creating solid walls that will add a more realistic cottage like feel. Second, this expansion means we can display our sleigh ... yes that is right the Kringle's will have the sleigh on display in the workshop. This expansion will be a year long work in progress. We will provide updates and photos through the year.
For now, we hope your holidays have been peaceful, relaxing and full of hope for the new year.

Most of the walls are now built. This coming weekend, they will go up and be labeled in order. The new walls are wood and provide a more realistic look as well as making the space bigger, using two garage bays. The construction elves worked hard to knock out 12 wall panels, including the framing for a door. This next weekend the walls will get bolted together for the first time, the door will get framed and hung, and the final 13th wall will be made (awaiting the measurements once the other walls go up.). Once this is accomplished, the next step will be to paint ... but that will wait for better weather. Pictures will be added soon.

Walls were hung as well as adding in the missing panel and the door. Here are pictures of the walls in place. Next step the walls come down and get stored as is for a bit. In February we'll start working on windows. In April we'll start the painting process. The nice thing is the walls are sturdy and tall, this allows us to use the existing ceiling instead of manufactoring a tent fort like the past two years. I still need a creative disguise for the garage door motors.

More project on small things. Mrs. Kringle's kitchen cupboards are progressing. A sign for out front so it is easier to find the workshop was completed, complete with twinkling lights. The three additional large Christmas presents are near completion. I may add ribbon. Additionally, two pedestals were created for some additional nutcrackers. painting of the nutcrackers and two more boxes will happen over the rest of this month. The exciting part will come in April when we hope the weather will be nice enough to start painting the workshop walls ... all 14 of them. Additionally I completed a small part of an elf workbench, a self agitating cocoa mug.

Our goal is to create an ever more interactive enviornment. This weekend we started to add to the magic, we have the self purcolating cocoa mug and now an elfin lunch box, with sandwich, cheese and a gingerbread man cookie. Sven our hardworking elf will enjoy a delightful lunch, once he gets back to his station. Meanwhile when people open the lunch box it will speak to them. The legend of Sven is growing and with it, some suttle distinctions. Elves come in sevral different sizes, each suited for thier tasks. Sven is a tiny elf which helps to do the fine, delicate work of toy building, while Sasha, is a tall elf suitable for interaction with humans. Sasha will gladly take your photo and assist you around the workshop, while Sven is scarely ever seen.
Today the walls got painted. The side walls are green with red trim and the back wall is red with green trim. The elves and I had to wait for day when the weather cooperated to begin the task. We had budgeted three days to do all the walls and all but one were completed in just a single day ... a Christmas miracle to be sure. Tomorrow the half wall will be painted, green on the inside and brown with black trim on the outside.
All the walls went up after being painted. Walls are back in storage and the clean up process is begining. Additionally, we added a little magic to the sleigh.
